State Farm is one of worst insurance companies in the Country and I would like to share my recent experience. My State Farm agent deliberately concealed the important information related to my policy, which proved to be expensive at the time of damage.
From the outset, State Farm Adjustor - Luis Pena, have repeatedly suggested that the damage is "likely under the deductible," effectively discouraging me from moving forward with my claim. I find this approach troubling, as it appeared to undermine the purpose of my coverage and my right to a fair claims process. State Farm Adjustor suggested this in person without drafting an estimate or consulting with a contractor.
On April 22, 2025, Roto-Rooter, a licensed and professional water mitigation company, inspected the damage. Based on their expert findings —which included visible water damage and mold directly arising from the incident—they submitted an email to with supporting photographs requesting approval of the mold mitigation and associated claims.
However, within mere hours of their submission, State Farm Adjustor called me to state that the claim would be denied. He asserted that there had been a leak “ongoing for several months”—a conclusion that appears to have been made without any objective investigation or factual basis. I categorically disputed this statement, as I have not observed any increase in my water bill that would indicate a prolonged leak. This assertion, was speculative and unsupported, made with the intent to deny my claims for the valid coverage.
Furthermore, I have spoken with multiple licensed mold remediation professionals, one of them acted as State Farm Adjustor in the past, and are familiar with State Farm's dirty tactics. They unanimously expressed concern that State Farm appears to be preemptively and unjustifiably seeking reasons to deny a legitimate claim. These independent licensed experts indicated that the mold and damage observed are consistent with recent water intrusion and not the result of long-term neglect or maintenance failure, as has been implied. A legal review of my policy further established the proof that I am covered for the damages.
State Farm adjustor told me that he does not care if I cancel my State Farm Insurance Polices and if I go to the court. When I formally complained it to State Farm and requested for an new adjustor who is not biased like the current adjustor, State Farm did nothing other than sitting on my complaint for several days.
On top of everything, State Farm Agent - Shirley Saul did not do anything to expedite my claim or my complaint or getting me a new adjustor. This agent is good in selling various State Farm policies, but they will conceal the important information from you, as happened with me and will not help you if you experience any loss or damage to your property or car. This agent will not entertain your calls if it is related to to any damage and will tell you need to speak with claims department, which is very hard to reach.
Please do yourself a big favor and avoid State Farm in the very first place. If you still want to go with State Farm, then find a better agent, who is more responsive to your needs at the time of loss / damage and is not there to just sell you the policies.
